9:30 a.m. Welcome to the Academia

The Academia Cremonensis Administration will welcome and escort you through the rooms of the prestigious Mina-Bolzesi Palace, entirely frescoed and decorated by 19th century Italian artists

10 a.m. Some knowledge…

Before facing the practical laboratory, it’s best to understand something more about violin making. The master will illustrate the main materials, and show you the proper way to use tools essential for your activity.

12:30 Lunch break

A lunch in a typical Cremonese restaurant gives you the opportunity to ponder what was just heard, sharing it with your companions in this experience.

2:30 p.m. Let’s go into the workshop…!

You will be allowed to enter the classrooms where the master violin-makers and bow-makers, immersed in the scent of essences and in the quiet of the ancient Romantic space, hand down the art which has made Cremona famous throughout the entire world.

3:30 p.m.

The master will briefly explain the work of tomorrow’s practical laboratory work.

4 p.m. Closing


9:30 a.m. Welcome to the Academia

You feel at home, but the charm of the location is still great. The master will welcome you, the pupils greet you; you are a part of the Academia Cremonensis. All this will motivate you.

10 a.m. Practical Laboratory Start-off

Wrapped in the aroma of essences and followed by a master violin-maker, you will immerse yourself, taking away steps of the violin making process while working on a luthier’s workbench with his own tools

12:30 Lunch Break

Violin-making requires the highest attention and concentration. For this reason, it is very important to take intervals between periods of intense work, in order to return with renewed energy.

Lunch in a typical Cremonese restaurant will give you the opportunity to share your opinions on this new experience with your colleagues.

14:30 Resume Work

You will now have the occasion to judge your work in a new light. The break helps you to perceive flaws in order that you may correct and perfect them

3:30 p.m. The Eye of the Master

The master, with his great experience, will teach you to judge your work pointing out the desired end result. He will give suggestions about continuing and facing tomorrow’s work.

4:00 p.m. Closing


9:30 a.m. Welcome to the Academia

In this final day you will complete your work. Concentration is critical in order to achieve the fine, desired result.

10:00 a.m. At Work!

While some of you will have reached a satisfactory level, others will need this day to accomplish the as of yet unfinished work.

12:30 Lunch Break

With the end in sight, this lunch is your final opportunity to share your knowledge amongst your peers.

2:30 p.m. Final Sprint

Your work will have led you to accomplish one of the main parts constituting a violin. You will have perceived in little time what constitutes the job of a luthier, which include his emotions, his technique. The location where you’ve worked will have certainly fascinated you. You will have learned the philosophy at the heart of the Academia Cremonensis’ activity.

4:00 p.m. Closing

The Academia Cremonensis Management is at your disposal for any information. We will be happy to assist planning a new visit, for short or full courses on violin and bow-making.
